Moonlit Adagio

A C minor Adagio at 54 BPM — the slowest and most dramatic piece in the collection. C minor is the key Beethoven associated with fate: dark, serious, but not hopeless. The natural minor progression (Cm–Ab–Eb–Bb, i-VI-III-VII) descends through the relative major chords, giving each bar a slightly different emotional colour: grief at Cm, warmth at Ab, light at Eb, suspension at Bb before the return. At this tempo, every note is an event. The piano melody moves in long shapes — two-bar gestures, each phrase a single breath.
